During the past fifteen months, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Wade Thomas. I feel that I have gotten to know him well as a construction contractor and as a person. I have the highest regards for him on both accounts.
Mr. Thomas has been the Contractor's manager for construction of a library for the Virginia Community College System. The project has been more complex and difficult than would have been anticipated. Unknown site conditions, unusual weather, and significant project changes have served to create numerous complications. Although Mr. Thomas has the responsibility of managing other projects simultaneously, and of estimating and bidding for new projects, it has not affected his effectiveness on this project.
I have found him to be very knowledgeable in the procedures, methods and materials, and costs of construction. I have also found him to be perceptive, appreciative of the design intent, and able to anticipate potential conflicts and complications. Perhaps most important, I have found him to be quality conscious and concerned.
The key word in the first sentence of this letter is "with". All too often, the relationship between Architect and Contractor can be adversarial and counterproductive. Although Wade Thomas has been a strong representative for the Contractor's position, during a difficult project, he has maintained a cooperative attitude and a philosophy that working together is most efficient and effective.
As a person, I have found Mr. Thomas to be straightforward, honest and fair.
In summary, I highly endorse Wade Thomas.
